Raspberries

Raspberries for fresh retail and processing, specified by form, fruit integrity, packing and handling.

Raspberry procurement is strongly influenced by the intended use and the fragility of the fruit. Fresh retail and food-service buyers need an attractive berry that can withstand the proposed handling chain, while processors may specify frozen fruit, pieces or puree with quite different acceptance criteria. Duara Group reviews form, quality, pack, volume and destination before assessing a source. A raspberry-production figure is not evidence of a particular freezing line, prepared ingredient or available export lot, and should not be treated as such in a purchasing decision.

Raspberries buying guide

Fresh, whole frozen and processed forms

Begin with the required physical form. Whole fresh raspberries intended for a display pack cannot be specified in the same way as fruit for a puree or a cooked filling. A frozen whole-fruit programme should distinguish intact berries from crumble or pieces. Define any added ingredients and whether seeds must remain in a prepared product. Where a buyer accepts alternative forms, compare their usefulness in the actual application rather than making a simple weight-for-weight assumption.

Fruit integrity and quality controls

For fresh berries, agree the required maturity, colour and acceptable level of damaged or leaking fruit. Inspect representative punnets rather than only the top layer of a selected display case. For processed forms, define the physical presentation and the checks needed for the buyer's process. Any numerical tolerance, microbiological criterion or composition target should appear in an agreed specification with a testing method. A general quality label does not establish that a raspberry lot meets those requirements.

Commercial applications and trial use

Patisserie buyers may need intact, consistently presented fruit for decoration, whereas a jam or dairy preparation can have a different requirement for size and fruit integrity. State whether berries will be served fresh, cooked or incorporated into another ingredient. A sample should be tested in the intended recipe and handling workflow. A processor's acceptance of broken fruit does not waive food-safety or ingredient requirements. Separate the functional purpose of the fruit from purely cosmetic grading decisions.

Packing delicate fruit for the route

Specify punnet dimensions, net contents, case count and the protection needed against compression. Consider ventilation, stacking and the handling equipment at each stage. Request a proposed cooling and transport plan suitable for the form ordered. Frozen ingredients require their own packaging and temperature-control agreement. A route that works for a robust fruit is not automatically appropriate for fresh raspberries, and a retail pack should not be changed without reviewing how it affects protection and handling.

Receiving condition and remaining life

Plan unloading and access to the receiving store before confirming a dispatch schedule. Ask for packing or processing dates and the records relevant to the lot. Define how temperature excursions, damaged punnets, leakage and deterioration will be recorded and assessed. Remaining life cannot be guaranteed from a photograph or a country of production. The buyer's distribution period and intended use need to be considered with the actual condition and handling history of the offered product.

Requesting a raspberry quotation

Provide form, intended application, maturity and integrity requirements, packing, quantity and destination. Include any customer specification and identify the person responsible for sample approval. A repeat programme should set rules for changes in variety, pack or processing form and for handling nonconforming deliveries. Duara's assessment connects those details to a proposed source and route. The product page does not promise a fixed minimum quantity, processing capacity, certificate, available origin or delivery period.

Documented Production by Country

The records below describe raspberry fruit crop production. Quantities are national production statistics for the stated year, not available export quantities or Duara supply capacity. Estimates are labelled; uncorroborated imputed observations are retained internally rather than published as verified production.

These are dated production or manufacturing records, not a list of Duara suppliers or confirmed delivery destinations. The directory covers the evidence verified so far; it does not claim an exhaustive list of all producing countries.

Frequently asked questions

Can raspberry crumble replace whole berries?

Only with buyer approval. The appearance and function differ, especially for decoration and retail presentation. Identify whole fruit, pieces, crumble or puree explicitly in the request.

Does the crop directory identify frozen-fruit capacity?

No. Crop output and processing capacity are separate evidence questions. A frozen or pureed raspberry inquiry needs confirmation of the processing operation and the exact product specification.

How should fresh punnets be inspected?

Use an agreed sampling plan that looks beyond selected top-layer berries. Assess maturity, fruit integrity, leakage, decay and pack condition against the contract requirements.

What is needed for a recurring programme?

Provide the volume pattern, intended use, pack, quality criteria and receiving arrangements. Agree how substitutions and variation between deliveries will be reviewed, with lot traceability and an approval process.
