Domestic Electrical Cables

Domestic electrical cables are single-core, PVC-insulated copper wires for residential and commercial lighting and power circuits.

Duara Group sources domestic electrical cables for electrical contractors, building developers and commercial procurement teams. Single-core wiring provides one insulated conductor, with the circuit designer specifying separate live, neutral and protective conductors as needed. It is commonly installed within suitable conduit or trunking rather than treated as a complete sheathed outdoor cable. Our documented size range and roll length are listed below; circuit duty and the selected supplier datasheet determine suitability.

Types and configurations

The documented product is single-core PVC-insulated copper wiring. The following notes describe its construction and typical installation roles; they do not assign circuit ratings.

Single-core building wire

One PVC-insulated copper conductor for wiring routes within appropriate containment. Conductor colour, construction and designation must match the approved schedule.

Lighting and power wiring

Different circuit duties can require different conductor sizes. The documented size range is not a circuit-rating or breaker-selection guide.

Conduit and trunking routes

Containment helps support and protect insulated single-core wires. Confirm fill, accessibility, segregation and the environment of the complete route.

Product specifications

The documented construction, nominal sizes and packaging are stated below. Other electrical and installation properties must be confirmed against the exact supplier datasheet.

ParameterWhat to define
Documented conductor and insulationSingle-core copper wiring with PVC insulation.
Documented nominal conductor areas1.0 mm², 1.5 mm², 2.5 mm², 4.0 mm², 6.0 mm², 10.0 mm² and 16.0 mm². These values describe conductor cross-sectional area, not outside cable diameter.
Documented packaging90-metre rolls. Specify the quantity of rolls required for each size and conductor identification.
Supplier details to confirmConductor stranding, identification colours, exact cable designation, voltage rating, current-capacity data, insulation limits and required compliance evidence.

Packaging and supply formats

  • Documented packaging: 90-metre rolls.
  • List roll quantities separately for each conductor size and required colour or function.

Origin and sourcing options

Duara Group coordinates cable sourcing, procurement and distribution for Kenya, East Africa and international buyers. We do not manufacture cables. Producer, origin, quantities and delivery arrangements are confirmed for each enquiry.

Documentation and certification

  • Request the proposed supplier datasheet and cable identification before approval.
  • Specify any inspection, test reports or product certification evidence required for the exact cable; these are confirmed per enquiry.
  • Include destination-specific documentation and the project specification in the purchase request.

Standards and qualification

No product certification, voltage rating, current rating, fire rating or temperature limit is claimed here. A qualified project designer must assess the proposed cable and applicable installation requirements.

Buyer requirements for quotation

  • Intended application and equipment or circuit details
  • Cable schedule, route lengths and quantity per configuration
  • Installation environment and any special performance requirements
  • Packaging, destination and requested delivery schedule
  • Required datasheets, acceptance tests and quotation terms

Cable selection and installation considerations

Sizing the circuit

Provide design current, circuit length, supply arrangement, protective device and installation method. The designer should check current-carrying capacity after grouping and ambient-condition corrections, voltage drop and fault protection; a size alone does not establish suitability.

Planning the installation

List conduit and trunking routes, the number of loaded conductors and proximity to thermal insulation. Protect wires at entries and terminations and follow the selected cable and containment instructions. Do not assume ordinary building wire is suitable for direct burial, outdoor exposure or immersion.

Preparing a bulk wiring enquiry

Send a bill of quantities by size and colour or conductor function, roll quantities, site destination and delivery requirements. We can coordinate wholesale or project procurement once the proposed product specification and quantities are agreed.

Specifications

Specifications vary by manufacturer and configuration. Confirm the points below when you enquire and we will quote against them.

Conductor or fibre specification and cable construction
Circuit or network duty and required performance

Frequently asked questions

Which domestic cable sizes are documented?

The documented range is 1.0 mm², 1.5 mm², 2.5 mm², 4.0 mm², 6.0 mm², 10.0 mm² and 16.0 mm². Ask for the exact supplier datasheet and quantity per size in your quotation.

How are domestic electrical cables packaged?

The documented packaging is 90-metre rolls. State the roll count for every size and conductor identification; availability and delivery are confirmed when quoted.

Can one cable size be used for every lighting and power circuit?

No. Circuit current, route length, protection and installation conditions differ. A qualified designer must select each circuit size; this page does not provide an ampacity table.

Can single-core wires be installed without conduit or trunking?

The installation must provide the protection required for the selected cable and location. Ask the installer to check the supplier instructions and project requirements rather than assuming insulated building wire is a sheathed exposed cable.

What should I send for a building wiring quotation?

Send the approved cable schedule, sizes, conductor colours or functions, roll quantities, building location, containment method and documentation requirements through Request a Quote or WhatsApp.
