Available types and commercial grades

The options below can be investigated against a complete buyer specification. Availability, producer, origin and conformance are confirmed in the written quotation.

Penetration grade 40/50

A harder penetration grade requested for suitable pavement and climate designs.

Penetration grade 60/70

A widely specified paving grade, subject to the project standard and test limits.

Penetration grades 80/100 and 85/100

Softer grades considered where specified by the project designer.

VG grades

Viscosity-graded bitumen supplied only to the named grade and standard.

Polymer-modified bitumen

Performance-modified material sourced where the polymer system and performance criteria are defined.

Oxidized bitumen

Industrial and waterproofing grades identified by the required softening point and penetration designation.

Typical specification points

These are enquiry fields, not published lot values. The final specification and test basis must be agreed for each supply.

ParameterWhat to define
GradePenetration, VG, polymer-modified or oxidized designation.
Penetration / viscosityRequired value and test method supplied by the buyer.
Softening pointAcceptance limit confirmed in the supplier specification and COA.
Ductility and solubilityIncluded where required by the governing standard.
Other performance testsFlash point, loss on heating, elastic recovery or project-specific tests where applicable.

Packaging and supply formats

  • New steel drums with agreed net weight
  • Jumbo bags where supported by grade and destination
  • Bulk tanker delivery
  • Bitutainer or other containerized bulk systems where available

Origin and sourcing options

Origin is selected against grade, packing, volume, route and project approvals. Each quotation confirms the actual refinery or producer information available for review.

Documentation and certification

  • Manufacturer specification and batch COA
  • Packing list and commercial invoice
  • Certificate of origin where required
  • Independent inspection certificate when agreed
  • Project or destination conformity documents where applicable

Standards and qualification

Recognized penetration or viscosity grades are market designations, not a Duara guarantee. Compliance is established only against the accepted supplier documents and contract.

Buyer requirements for quotation

  • Grade and governing standard
  • Project/application
  • Required test limits
  • Quantity and packing
  • Destination and unloading capability
  • Delivery schedule and Incoterm

Bitumen procurement guide

Bitumen enquiries are matched to the pavement design, asphalt plant or industrial use rather than to a generic product name. Grade, test standard, packing, quantity and delivery conditions are confirmed for the proposed source. Electrical equipment must be selected as part of a system, using load, network, protection, environment and applicable project requirements.

System role and load

The stated applications are Road construction and asphalt production, Highway and airport paving, Waterproofing systems and Approved industrial applications. Provide the system role, connected loads, duty, redundancy, future capacity and interfaces with existing equipment.

Ratings, compatibility and acceptance

Compare proposals against Penetration or viscosity grade, Applicable test standard, Penetration, softening point and ductility requirements, Packing and net weight and Project volume, destination and delivery schedule. Require source-specific drawings, datasheets, protection or coordination information and the test/standard evidence called for by the project.

Installation, protection and support

Confirm enclosure and environmental conditions, cable/termination interfaces, dimensions and weights, transport protection, site access, installation boundaries, testing, commissioning, training, warranty expectations and spare components.

Information to include in your quotation request

Send the single-line diagram or system description, load and duty, Penetration or viscosity grade, Applicable test standard, Penetration, softening point and ductility requirements, Packing and net weight and Project volume, destination and delivery schedule, quantity, site conditions, existing interfaces, destination, installation/testing scope and required project documents.
